EMDR

Clients are often curious, what is EMDR, how does it work, will it help me or my child?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.  It is a type of therapy that was first developed to use with clients who had experienced trauma, and has since been researched and found to be effective with a range of other therapeutic issues.  You can go to the EMDR International Association to learn more.

I am a certified EMDR therapist and hold a special accreditation as an EMDR Child Specialist.  I completed my EMDR training here in Austin with the Institute for Professional and Creative Development.  I began using EMDR with my adult clients and they were making so much progress that I wanted to integrate EMDR into my therapy work with children and adolescents.  I went on to complete an intensive training and consultation with Ana Gomez at the AGATE Institute in Arizona.  While using EMDR is a helpful therapeutic model, I do not use EMDR with all clients.  To ask questions about whether EMDR might be a good fit for you, please contact me.
